How do I Prepare for Chemistry for The NEET Like a Pro?

Most students preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) give more importance to physics and biology. They treat chemistry like an alien subject that's syllabus is broad. It leads to panic just before the test and low scores in this section. The important thing to remember here is that the NEET Chemistry section has a weightage of 25 percent in the full test for the NEET exam. Not giving yourself enough time for this section can result in lower marks and may prevent you from getting into the college of your dreams.

As you are all aware, Chemistry for the medical exam is divided into three parts, i.e., Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. All three parts have equal weightage in NEET Exams.

  • Physical Chemistry: Mainly deals with numerical problems, so you need to focus on solving numerical problems and applying concepts.
  • Inorganic Chemistry: It deals with the basic concept of chemistry like electronic configuration, the periodic table, etc. In Inorganic Chemistry, the question asked at NEET is very repetitive, and that is why understanding the trends and practicing last year's question paper will help you get full marks in this part.
  • Organic chemistry: It deals with the reaction of Organic compounds. In Organic Chemistry, you will learn different reactions, the stability of intermediate, and some essential concepts like Inductive Effect, Resonance, and Hyperconjugation.

Here we share some tips to help you in the full test for NEET preparation.

  • Plan your Study:

Planning is the first step towards your goal. Customize a study plan according to your needs, and It should be realistic and feasible. Having this around will remind you of your course of action.

If you want to secure a government seat, it is necessary to score above 600 marks. To that end, you have to score well in NEET Chemistry is inevitable as it is said to be the least complex section that takes less time if prepared well.

  • Divide Your Syllabus:

Knowing the NEET Chemistry paper syllabus is very important even before preparing for the exam. It will give you a summary of the whole syllabus. To understand what topics you are strong on and what your weaknesses are. It will help you to plan your study Schedule and prepare concisely.

As you know, chemistry mainly consists of 3 sub-sections

  • Physical Chemistry
  • Inorganic Chemistry
  • Organic Chemistry

It is estimated that 15 questions are asked from each sub-sections.

  • Choose Study Material Smartly:

If you are confused about choosing the best study material, start with Class 11 and 12 NCERT books. As an expert, nothing could be better than these books. The language used in these textbooks is simple and easy to understand. With experience, I am telling you these books will be helpful for basic concepts. After completing NCERT Books, you can refer to some reference books. Here are a few Chemistry reference books that you can refer to other than NCERT - MTG Objective NCERT at Your Finger Tips Chemistry for NEET, N Awasthi (Physical objective) or O.P Tandon, VK Jaiswal (Inorganic objective), and MS Chauhan (Organic Objective).

  • Take Daily Mock Tests:

You have about two months for the NEET exam. And we can assume that you have completed more than 75 percent of your chemistry syllabus. So, start taking mock tests every day. With the help of solid practice, you will be able to memorize the complex parts of the NEET Chemistry syllabus, and you will be prepared full for NEET Test.

  • Solve Previous Year's Question Paper:

Not only is solving sample papers, giving the mock tests important but solving the NEET previous year's question paper is necessary. It will help you understand the question patterns, marking scheme, and topic weightage. You can easily find out how many questions are in one chapter. It will help you quickly revise your weak points and increase your time management skills.
